Ordinary People, Extraordinary Impact

In our journey through Acts, we’ve been inspired by many heroes of the Christian faith. In chapter 7, we read about Stephen, the first martyr. We’ve seen Saul (Paul), the radical evangelist who went from persecuting the church to proclaiming Christ. Last week, we looked at Peter, who overcame cultural barriers to boldly preach the gospel to the Gentiles. When we read about these men, we celebrate their extraordinary impact in the Kingdom. But if we’re honest, we also tend to compare ourselves to them: I could never be Stephen, Saul, or Peter. I could never make that kind of impact. And we begin to wonder: Can God really use me? But today’s passage shifts our attention away from the well-known names and onto a group of people we might otherwise overlook. Not the apostles. Not famous leaders. Just ordinary, unnamed believers. And yet, through them, God does something extraordinary.
