Passing the Flame 10/25/2026
In 2025, The Foursquare Church leadership cast a bold, prophetic vision: Pursuing His Presence, Passing the Flame, and Possessing the Land. “We are called to ignite and empower every generation: identifying, equipping, and releasing leaders to carry God’s mission forward. We all have a torch to carry, but the flame is continually being passed with intentionality and mutuality from generation to generation.” Today’s passage highlights this very truth. As Paul and Silas journeyed through the places where Paul had once planted churches, including Lystra, the site of his stoning, they encountered Timothy, a young man whose faith had grown in those five years. Paul saw not just a companion, but a leader ready to rise. Paul broke down barriers so the gospel could reach even further, inviting Timothy into the ministry and entrusting him with the mission. Later, Paul would urge Timothy to be strong in grace and to teach others also (2 Tim. 2:1-2). This is a vibrant example of passing the flame. This is our calling. We each carry a torch, tending our flame by walking closely with Christ and living the life He’s given us. But we are not meant to keep the flame to ourselves. With intention, we pass the flame to new leaders, to the next generation, trusting that as we share the fire, it multiplies; never diminished, always growing. This is the legacy we build together, lighting the world as God’s people have done through the ages.
