Sin's Grave -10/5/2024

Water Baptism is portrayed as a watery grave. It is in water baptism that we offer Jesus our old sinful self to die with Him on the cross and be buried with Him in the grave, and Paul says that this is where our new life begins- with our death. This seems morbid when you hear these words but don’t understand what it means, but in the spiritual world, there is no getting around the fact that death proceeds life. According to Paul, believers can live new lives free from the power of sin, which starts with our death. Jesus taught this so clearly when He said, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it bears much fruit (Jn. 12:24). First He was talking about Himself and the cross, but it is also true for us as well (Jn. 12:25-26). When we choose Christ, He resurrects us from the grave of sin. Sin is death. We can die in our sin, or we can die to our sin, and when we choose to die to our sin, our new life truly begins, and when this happens, we are more able to enjoy people and the world around us. When we leave sin in its grave new life really begins.
