Victory Walk 11/23/2024
When God created humans, He had a particular goal in mind. It was not by accident that we were made in His image (Ge. 1:26-27). He wanted to share life, interact with us, and have a friendship with us. He did not create us because He was lonely. After all, He had the fellowship of the Trinity and was unified in perfection. God’s most significant characteristic is love, and love rejoices to love more. His loving heart wanted a bigger family because He desired to share His love more. So, He created the human race and placed in us this same desire for love to be just like Him. We were made to be spiritual and immortal, able to become like Him in character, but for this to happen, He had to give us freedom of moral choice. For goodness and love to exist, there must be freedom. Freedom is rooted in the right to make our own decisions. A person can be forced to do the right thing, but they become good when they choose the right thing, especially when facing temptation. Paul tells us that we have become God’s adopted children and have been “called according to His purpose,” and we will eventually live in glory with Him. Still, for now, we walk through life in an environment that is often hostile and evil, but as we do, we are encouraged that God uses every event to transform us into the likeness of His Son. We are heirs of the King and are given victory over death through our adoption. Now, we must choose to walk in victory.
