Being a Bridge- 06/14/2026
When fellow Christians wound others through dishonesty or a lack of repentance, trust can quietly begin to unravel. Hearts grow guarded, and a painful question arises: if the name Christian does not automatically make someone trustworthy, then what does? In Acts 9:23-30, we meet Saul after his conversion and a few years of preparation in Arabia and Damascus. The church in Jerusalem had every reason to be cautious; he had once been its fiercest enemy. But then Barnabas stepped forward, a humble, courageous leader and true disciple who saw what God was doing in Saul before others could. He did more than offer optimism; he used discernment, took risks, and became the bridge that welcomed Saul into the fellowship. And because he did, the church was strengthened, and God’s mission moved forward. Today, we will see in Barnabas a compelling picture of the kind of trust-building, people-shaping discipleship the church still needs today.
