Spirit of Truth - 08/12/2023

Last week we were challenged to love like Jesus. To love like Jesus, we must follow His commandments in chapter fifteen. First, we must maintain an active relationship with Him; we must stay attached to Him like a branch to a grapevine (vs1-6). Second, we must continue to submit to Him, which came with a promise of God's manifest presence in our lives (vs7, 10). Finally, we must decide to love another as Jesus loved us (vs12-13). From observance of these commandments, we can love the world as Jesus loved the world. John 3:16-17 says, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." As we begin to read in verse eighteen, Jesus tells us that the world will hate and reject us, but He sent the Spirit of Truth to overcome the rejection of the world.
