Who Do You Think You Are!? 5/25/2025
Romans 12:2 is a challenging verse to live by. It's a great verse to quote, but it's hard to live by. We come to Jesus with ingrained habits, perceptions, and attitudes shaped by lies over time. We will struggle with some of these our entire lives and repeatedly give them to Jesus. We have been listening to the lies of the enemy and others for so long, and now we are supposed to think differently. Changing our thinking takes effort, prolonged exposure to the Word, learning to listen to the Holy Spirit, and letting go of pride. Pride distorts our self-perception and relationships. We escape it by allowing the Holy Spirit to reprogram our thinking, teaching us true humility. The title of this message is Who Do You Think You Are? Sometimes, this question is asked this way when we are self-focused. When we get over ourselves, we begin to value one another, which leads to unity as we and those around us start to operate in their God-given talents and callings, leading to unity in service to God. Transformed thinking fosters a balanced view of our identity in Christ, values each church member, and promotes unity.
