Aurora Prayer Sheild

The Aurora Prayer Shield initiative was birthed out of prayer for the Aurora corridor. There is a need to restore the dignity of all who are addicted and enslaved in this hurting city.

Why Should We Pray

Read Isaiah 58:6-7. We believe God is calling us to pray for our community. The Aurora Prayer Shield is a prayer covering, not an outreach or an evangelism tool. So often, we think we must do something other than praying, but there is power in prayer (1 Jn 5:14, Mt 21:21-22, Lk 11:9). For now, we are preparing the ground for planting. The purpose is to both undergird and support outreach and evangelism.

Instructions

It is recommended that you go with a team of people (Mat 18:20). We know for some people praying out loud can be intimidating. Perhaps you are new to prayer. That is okay, you can go and agree silently. The purpose for going in a group is for safety and accountability. Find a safe place to park within the Aurora corridor. It is recommended that you find a worship instrumental playlist. You want this to help set the atmosphere for your time of prayer. Use the backside of this card if needed to guide you through the next hour of prayer. We recommend that you read the scriptures aloud.

Things to Remember

Pray for the pimps, prostitutes, johns, the homeless, and the addicted, not against them. We are not doing this so that they will leave our area. We are doing this so that they may be set free from addiction, slavery, and sin by the power of our resurrected Jesus (Eph 6:12).

People are not our enemy and what our focus should be is to push back the darkness from the Aurora corridor and break up the hardened spiritual ground of this area.

We do this through prayer that is focused on lifting people up and praying that the strongholds of the deceiver will be pulled down.

PRAYER PROMPTS

Read 1 John 4:1-4

Evil and darkness are in the world, and we must stand against them as Christians. Ask the Lord to give you discernment and the power to pray for those who choose to walk away from evil behaviors.

Pray for the leadership over your community, schools, city, state, and country. Ask God to raise up godly leaders who are wise and lead with righteousness.

Ask God to stop the evil over which you have no control (e.g., crime, natural disasters), and pray you will find ways to help minister with righteousness, grace, and mercy in our community.

Read Luke 4:18

Poverty and homeliness are an epidemic in our community. Pray that God would reach them with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Pray that those held captive by addiction would be released and restored.

Ask God that those who are enslaved would be set free.

Read Isaiah 59:19

Pray that the fear of the Lord would be felt throughout the Aurora corridor, that this fear would cause sinners to live a life that pleases God.

Ask God to blow through the Aurora corridor that the wicked spirit of this age would be dethroned, and God’s authority would be in position, and His people would follow.

Pray that many would hear the call of God in their own lives and that they would respond to His call for them.

Thank you for choosing to be an active partner in prayer. We believe that God will do a mighty work through the prayers of His people.
